Charlene Xu
Charlene Xu is an animation filmmaker and artist based in Los Angeles. Her work explores the terrain of bodily feeling, memory, and the subtleties of the human psyche, often through a poetic lens that merges narrative with abstraction.
Charlene works across creative fields of 2D animation, poetry writing, and painting.
Her films have been recognized by platforms and festivals such as SXSW, Palm Springs ShortFest, Tricky Women Tricky Realities, Shanghai International Film Festival, Vimeo Staff Picks, NOWNESS China Talent Award, among others.
She received an MFA in Animation from University of Southern California and a BFA in Film from New York University.
She loves plants, swimming, and freewriting.
